Milos and Alessio celebrating second place at the opening Super Trofeo race in Paul Ricard

POLE POSITION, PODIUM AND SPECTACULAR DRIVE BY MILOŠ PAVLOVIĆ AT THE OPENING OF THE SEASON!

Serbian racing driver Miloš Pavlović started the championship season with a great drive at the race weekend in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe championship, which was held at the Paul Ricard track in France. In the first race, together with his teammate, the Italian Alessio Ruffini, Pavlović finished in second place in the Pro-Am class, while the tandem of the ASR team took the fourth position in the class in the second race.

Saturday on the famous grand prix track started off great for Miloš. First, in qualifying, he secured pole position for the second Sunday race, and then in the first race of the weekend and the first race of the season, he showed why he belongs to the group of the best GT racers at the moment.

The inexperienced Ruffini qualified 25th for the first race and managed to move up three places, which would have been enough for Miloš to take the win after taking over the car. But, just half a lap before the driver change, the Italian turns around on the track and hands over the car to Pavlović in an almost hopeless situation – our ace took to the track in 29th position and just ahead of the current leader, with practically a lap behind. That didn’t stop Miloš from delivering another brilliant drive, and he hinted at a great result by making up 11 positions after completing the mandatory pit-stops, after only a few laps! Two periods with the “safety car” helped him in his great march to the top, which made it easier for him to catch up with his rivals, and he crossed the finish line as second in class and fourth overall, just 1.6 seconds behind the winner. In 29 minutes in his “Hurricane”, he advanced 25 positions, with just one lap left in the 50-minute race for Pavlovic to achieve another sensational victory. In the second race of the weekend, on Sunday, Pavlovic started from pole position and masterfully drove his “stint” in the changing weather conditions, recording the fastest lap of the race on wet tires that was not beaten until the very end of the race when the track dried out, and the rivals mounted a “picture” of dry tires on their cars.

Pavlović stayed on the track as long as possible, so Ruffini got into the car as the overall leader 20 minutes before the end. He fought as hard as he could, but in the last lap he lost his place on the podium, so he finished the race in 4th place in class and 16th overall.

After this positive weekend at the Paul Ricard track, Pavlović, Ruffini and the ASR team (Auto Sport Racing) continue the competition at the end of May, with the race weekend in Monza. This is followed by races at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit (June 26-28), then at the Nürburgring (August 29-31), Barcelona (October 10-12) and Mizan (November 6-7).

In addition to the Super Trofeo Europe competition, this season Pavlović will compete in the Italian GT Endurance Championship and in several races of the Italian GT Sprint Series and the GT Cup Open Championship.

“This was one challenging race weekend. From the start we showed our potential, we were very fast. In the first race I managed to make up a lot of positions. It was a big challenge, but I have to admit that I enjoyed the race, because the car was fantastic. In the second race, starting from pole position was a confirmation that we have a good car and that I am in good shape at the moment. Unfortunately, we did not finish the race on the podium, because the conditions on the track were very difficult, complicated, because it was raining. Alessio simply didn’t manage it when he took over the car, even though we had a big lead. In any case, this is just the beginning, I’m sure it will be even better in the next races. The fight continues so we’ll see how things play out later in the season”.
